We called to have two large pine trees removed since they were in the way of where we needed to put our fence. We are slackers and always wait until the last minute to do anything so of course, we tried to find someone that could take these out quickly as we needed it done ASAP. These guys came out the same day I called and were able to get them out the next day. I was so impressed by how nice and professional they are, it’s nearly impossible to get anyone to come out and/or follow up with anything so it was extremely refreshing that they did both without me having to call and ask what the hold up was. I will forever use this company for future needs. Thank you again!!

The service for Driscoll Tree Service was outstanding. Michael came out to meet with me, explained the pros and cons of how to deal with my tree removal, and provided a clear quote for the service. The crew that came out to do the work was on-time, professional and did a great job. One of the trees they had to remove was tall and in a spot where they couldn't get any heavy equipment to it, but they were able to take it down in pieces without damaging my landscaping or fence. If you are looking for a professional and competent tree service,  I definitely recommend calling Driscoll Tree Service.

Best Tips to Clear Overgrown Land

Land is one of the best investments you can make, but here’s the catch: if you want to unlock its full potential, then you’ve got to cultivate or develop it. Before you can do either, you’ve got to clear it out. Overgrown land can be a jungle of tangled brush, towering trees, and stubborn weeds; but with the right approach, you can transform it into something beautiful and usable.

In this brief article brought to you by Driscoll Tree Service, we share some tips on how to clear overgrown land the Georgia way. If you’d rather leave the work to seasoned professionals with a proven track-record, then contact the uniformed crew at Driscoll Tree Service.

Start with a Plan

First things first: take a good look at your land and map out what needs to be done. Are there large trees that need removing in Auburn, GA? Is it mostly brush and weeds? Maybe there are stumps or rocks that need hauling off. The key here is to know what you’re working with so you can prioritize and organize your efforts.

It’s also wise to think about your end goal. Are you clearing the land for farming, building, or landscaping? Having a clear purpose will guide your decisions about what stays and what goes.

Gear Up with the Right Tools

Clearing land isn’t a one-size-fits-all job. Depending on the size and condition of your property, you might need anything from hand tools to heavy machinery. Here are some common essentials:

  • Hand Tools: For smaller projects, pruners, axes, shovels, and rakes can do the trick.
  • Chainsaws: These are a must if you’re dealing with large trees or thick brush.
  • Brush Cutters: Ideal for tackling overgrown grass and weeds.
  • Heavy Equipment: For larger plots, you might need a bulldozer, skid steer, or forestry mulcher to make quick work of clearing the land.

If you don’t have the equipment or experience to use it safely, consider hiring a professional land-clearing company like Driscoll Tree Service. We have the tools and know-how to get the job done efficiently and safely.

Clear the Big Stuff First

Start with the big obstacles like trees, stumps, and large rocks. Removing these first will give you better access to the rest of the land and make the smaller tasks much easier. Be advised that tree removals are incredibly risky, and we strongly recommend a tree risk assessment before tree removal - especially if they’re close to structures or power lines.

Manage the Debris

Once the big stuff is out of the way, it’s time to take on the brush and weeds as well as the debris like tree limbs and piles of brush. You have a few options to handle this debris:

  • Composting: Turn smaller branches and leaves into nutrient-rich compost for future landscaping or gardening.
  • Burning: In some areas, you can burn debris, but always check local regulations and safety guidelines first.
  • Hauling It Off: Larger debris might need to be hauled away to a recycling center or landfill.
