The service for Driscoll Tree Service was outstanding. Michael came out to meet with me, explained the pros and cons of how to deal with my tree removal, and provided a clear quote for the service. The crew that came out to do the work was on-time, professional and did a great job. One of the trees they had to remove was tall and in a spot where they couldn't get any heavy equipment to it, but they were able to take it down in pieces without damaging my landscaping or fence. If you are looking for a professional and competent tree service,  I definitely recommend calling Driscoll Tree Service.

We called to have two large pine trees removed since they were in the way of where we needed to put our fence. We are slackers and always wait until the last minute to do anything so of course, we tried to find someone that could take these out quickly as we needed it done ASAP. These guys came out the same day I called and were able to get them out the next day. I was so impressed by how nice and professional they are, it’s nearly impossible to get anyone to come out and/or follow up with anything so it was extremely refreshing that they did both without me having to call and ask what the hold up was. I will forever use this company for future needs. Thank you again!!

Cracks, Rot, and Weak Branches: When to Call a Tree Service

Trees are magnificent entities that provide numerous benefits to our landscapes and the environment. From adding shade and beauty to purifying the air we breathe, we rely on trees for improved quality of life. While these green giants may seem sturdy and durable, problems can develop beneath that calm presence, leading to slow deterioration and ultimately tree removal. Cracks in the trunk, signs of rot, or weak branches may not raise concerns initially, but they can worsen and cause devastating damage over time. These warning signs can be a result of structural instability and potential hazards, prompting the expertise of a reputable tree company in Atlanta, GA. Knowing when to call Driscoll Tree Service is essential, not just for the health of the tree, but also for your loved ones' well-being.

Cracks in the Trunk

secondary

A single crack in a tree trunk is rarely a cause for concern at first glance. However, thin crevices running along the bark suggest deeper structural issues that need immediate intervention. Trees rely on a structurally sound trunk to support their weight and withstand environmental stress like rain and wind. When you detect cracks forming, especially deep or wide ones, consult a trusted tree company to diagnose and address the root cause.

Splits are often a result of different causes, including extreme weather conditions like sudden temperature changes. Others may result from internal decay or physical damage, and often escalate into bigger structural issues down the line. If you detect cracks that seem to be growing or exposing the inner wood, it may be time to involve a tree service. A certified arborist can assess the extent of the damage and determine whether tree removal is the safest option.

Rot and Decay

Rot is one of the most dangerous tree issues, mainly because it can go undetected for a long time until the damage is irreversible. Unlike cracks, which are easily detected, decay works quietly from the inside out. By the time you detect crumbling wood or mushrooms growing at the base, the internal structure is already severely damaged.

Besides fungal growth, hollow sections, cavities, or areas where the wood feels spongy are red flags you should not ignore. Decay weakens the overall structural integrity, increasing the likelihood of falling during storms. A professional tree service can evaluate the extent of the damage using specialized tools and techniques, ensuring effective solutions to prevent costly damage and reduce the risk of accidents.

Weak or Dead Branches

Overhanging branches may provide shade and shield your home from strong winter winds, but they can also pose a serious threat when they become weak or dead. The last thing you want is a large limb breaking off unexpectedly, especially when people and pets are nearby. Even on a calm day, hazardous branches can fall without warning and cause serious injuries and property damage.

If you detect warning signs of weakness, such as visible cracks, peeling bark, and a lack of leaves during the growing season, call a tree company quickly. On the other hand, dead branches are usually dry and brittle, snapping easily under pressure. Larger limbs are particularly dangerous because of the damage they cause when they fall.

Call a Trusted Tree Service Provider

Trees are valuable assets that require regular care and attention to remain safe and healthy. If you detect warning signs of deterioration or suspect an internal problem that needs immediate attention, act quickly to prevent serious consequences like personal injury, property damage, and even tree removal.
