Michael came out to evaluate some trees I had with a questionable fungus on them, and ultimately the course of action was removal for a select few. He got me an estimate for the removal within a matter of days. They had the most competitive prices out of the other estimates I got. Michael is a very knowledgeable Arborist and you can tell he is passionate about his work. He wasn't pushy at all about the removal like some of the other companies I had come out, and he advised me on doing it in "phases" to fit my budget. The actual tree removal and stump grinding itself was so smooth and all the workers that came with the crane and stump service were very professional and communicative about what the process was going to be.

We called to have two large pine trees removed since they were in the way of where we needed to put our fence. We are slackers and always wait until the last minute to do anything so of course, we tried to find someone that could take these out quickly as we needed it done ASAP. These guys came out the same day I called and were able to get them out the next day. I was so impressed by how nice and professional they are, it’s nearly impossible to get anyone to come out and/or follow up with anything so it was extremely refreshing that they did both without me having to call and ask what the hold up was. I will forever use this company for future needs. Thank you again!!

Planting Trees Properly

Planting a tree is a rewarding and environmentally conscious act. However, following the proper planting techniques is essential to ensure its long-term health and growth. Here’s a helpful guide through planting a tree. As a professional and experienced tree care company, we understand the critical aspects of planting, such as digging the hole, backfilling, staking, post-planting care, and adequate watering. Remember, for expert guidance and maintenance; it’s always beneficial to consult Driscoll Tree Service.

Digging the Hole

When preparing the planting hole, it’s crucial to consider the width and depth. The width should be two to three times the diameter of the tree’s root ball. This allows enough space for the roots to spread and establish a stable foundation. The depth of the hole should be equal to the root ball’s height, ensuring that the tree is planted at the proper level.

Backfilling the Hole

Proper backfilling helps provide essential support and nutrients to the newly planted tree. Use the original soil removed from the hole, as it is well-suited for the local environment. Avoid adding amendments, like organic matter or fertilizer, directly to the backfill. This prevents the roots from becoming accustomed to a rich soil environment and encourages them to spread out in search of nutrients.

Staking the Tree

secondary

Staking is only sometimes necessary but can benefit young or top-heavy trees. If staking is required, place two strong stakes outside the root ball, providing sufficient anchorage and avoiding damage to the roots. Secure the tree to the stakes with flexible ties, allowing some movement to promote root and trunk development. Remember to monitor the tree regularly and remove the stakes once firmly established. If you prefer a more hands-off approach, hire tree service provider to stake your trees.

Immediate Post-Planting Care

After planting the tree, it’s crucial to provide immediate care to support its successful adaptation. Apply a layer of organic mulch around the tree’s base, ensuring it doesn’t touch the trunk. Mulch helps hold moisture, regulate soil temperature, and suppress weeds. Water the tree thoroughly, allowing the water to penetrate the root zone. This initial watering is vital for the tree’s hydration and establishment.

Ensuring Sufficient Water

Watering plays a critical role in the tree’s growth and survival. After the initial watering, establish a regular watering routine, especially during dry periods. Deep watering is essential, as it encourages the tree’s roots to grow deeply into the soil, making it more resilient to drought. Avoid frequent shallow watering, leading to shallow root growth and making the tree susceptible to stress.

Planting a tree correctly is essential for its long-term health and growth. By following the proper techniques discussed above, you can give your tree the best start. Remember, consulting a professional tree care company can offer expert advice tailored to your specific needs, ensuring the success and longevity of your newly planted tree. So, let’s embrace the opportunity to contribute to a greener and healthier planet, one tree at a time.
