The service for Driscoll Tree Service was outstanding. Michael came out to meet with me, explained the pros and cons of how to deal with my tree removal, and provided a clear quote for the service. The crew that came out to do the work was on-time, professional and did a great job. One of the trees they had to remove was tall and in a spot where they couldn't get any heavy equipment to it, but they were able to take it down in pieces without damaging my landscaping or fence. If you are looking for a professional and competent tree service,  I definitely recommend calling Driscoll Tree Service.

Michael came out to evaluate some trees I had with a questionable fungus on them, and ultimately the course of action was removal for a select few. He got me an estimate for the removal within a matter of days. They had the most competitive prices out of the other estimates I got. Michael is a very knowledgeable Arborist and you can tell he is passionate about his work. He wasn't pushy at all about the removal like some of the other companies I had come out, and he advised me on doing it in "phases" to fit my budget. The actual tree removal and stump grinding itself was so smooth and all the workers that came with the crane and stump service were very professional and communicative about what the process was going to be.

Caring for Your Tree’s Roots

Planting a tree is a long-term investment, as most trees take several years to grow to their potential. While there are many ways to maintain maximum health, such as tree pruning and trimming, managing its root system is crucial for growth and longevity. At the Driscoll Tree Service, we address issues above and below ground, ensuring the root system is in tip-top shape. If you need professional help to care for tree roots, consult a reputable tree care company. Here are essential tips we recommend helping you care for and manage your tree’s root system effectively.

Choose Location Carefully

The location you plant your tree is vital to its root system’s health. Consider factors such as soil quality, drainage, and proximity to structures or utilities. In addition, opt for well-drained soil to prevent waterlogging, which can suffocate roots, causing decay and premature tree removal. Trees thrive in spacious areas where there are few obstacles. If a tree in your yard is too close to your home, the risk of root and property damage is high. It is advisable to work with a trusted tree service provider during planting to ensure the ideal location for maintenance practices like tree trimming and root care.

Develop Good Watering Habits

Another crucial care tip for tree roots is establishing proper watering habits. This goes a long way to promote healthy root growth. Provide consistent moisture, especially during the tree’s establishment phase. Deep, infrequent watering encourages roots to grow deeper into the soil, increasing stability and preventing tree removal emergencies. However, be cautious to avoid overwatering, as this can cause root rot and other fungal diseases. We can dispatch certified arborists to monitor soil moisture levels regularly and adjust watering frequency, especially during dry periods.

Monitor Trees and Nearby Areas

When you schedule regular inspections with a trusted tree service, it allows you to detect and address minor issues before things get out of hand. We look for visible signs of stress or decline, such as wilting leaves, leaf discoloration, or stunted growth. Although tree trimming and pruning can address most of these concerns, severe damage or interference with the root system may require effective solutions. Leverage the expertise of certified arborists to ensure regular care and maintenance.

Deploy Barriers

If a tree in your yard has a vast root system, install barriers to manage and prevent damage to structures or utilities. These barriers are usually made of materials like plastic or metal and are buried around the tree to redirect root growth away from sensitive areas. You can also enlist the expertise of a tree care company when planting trees near buildings or infrastructure, ensuring proper installation of barriers.

Consider Root Removal if Necessary

secondary

Sometimes, root removal is vital to address issues such as root encroachment, invasive growth, or damage to infrastructure. We can assess the severity of the problem and recommend preventive measures, such as root pruning, to minimize the risk of damage to the tree. When considering root removal, weigh the potential benefits against the risks and consult professional arborists to determine the best course of action for preserving the tree’s health and structural integrity.

Caring for and managing your tree’s root system requires careful attention and proactive measures. Contact us at the Driscoll Tree Service and schedule an appointment with our experts.
